24-11-14

Our mission: To invite others to come unto Christ by helping them to accept the restored gospel pf Jesus Christ, through developing faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, and His atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. (I don't actually know it in English. I translated it.)

Elder Perez's (b)log.
Station: Prenzlau/Neubrandenburg
"The crew is busy with preparations for the annual celebration of the harvest on Thursday (Thanksgiving), although in such modern times we are no longer directly invovled in the harvest itself. Still the tradition is an opportunity to be thankful and we have much to be thankful for.
There has been a dramatic increase in the number of baptismal dates in our quadrant (district). This may in part be due to the appoinment of Elder Poch as Captain (district leader). In any case, with an increase of this nature, we have naturally seen an increase in enemy activity. We will have to be careful.
We have also been appointed to a new ship (car). I am sorry to see the old one retired, but the new one has it's natural advantages. The navigations console (steering wheel) has a built in heating unit which prevents the freezing that the old one was sometimes prone to. (It has a built in heater.) It is also equipped with a superior speed control system, which will help us to prevent uneccessary fuel expenditure. (It has cruise control. And it displays current gasoline usage.)
It may be my last week at this station, but I am proud of the progress we have made."
Elder Perez's (b)log, supplemental
"The native inhabitants, who celebrate the harvest much earlier than we do, are busy with preparations for the annual winter festival. (Christmas.) Almost overnight, shops have risen in the streets. There is even an ice rink. I hope that I will be able to see the completion of their work."

I am all alone and old

Dear Everybody,
I am all alone and old.
Our mission is rapidly becoming younger and younger. In fact, if you were to take half of the missionaries in our district, excluding my companion, and add their mission ages, it would be less than or equal to mine. My companion has ten weeks left. We have a new missionary couple in Neubrandenburg. They have been in Germany for only a couple of days. My companion is new, so he doesn't know the area. The sisters are in their fourth and second transfers, and looking at the mission blog, all of the sisters are somehow in training... again. Elder Müller is the oldest missionary in his new district, being in his fourth transfer.
That is why missionary work is a miracle. This week we found more investigators and contacts than in the thirteen weeks before. One of them lives in our same apartment building, which is really convenient.
Sunday was also an experience. I conducted the meeting. And technically, presided. But it was a good week. We had fifteen people there, not including the missionaries and two non-members.

love,
Elder Perez

Elder Müller and Brother Schulz
For some reason there are always mosquitoes in the elevator.
