So this is where it ends. Schwarzenberg. The black mountain.
Mordor. Doom. This is where missionaries go to die.
But seriously. I am the third missionary in a row to end his
mission in Schwarzenberg. My companion Elder Horrocks, has been here for three transfers,
and has sent two missionaries home in that time. I’m number three.
All in all I don’t think that it is a bad place to end my
mission. The “city” is really a town. It is what we call a “Dorf-hopping” area.
As anticipated. We just break up the day into 2 hour time periods where we go
to different cities in the area and go door to door. Follow up on people that
said we could come back. We actually had a lot of potential, even a couple of
lessons this week through follow up. Then came the ax.
They are taking our car away. Roughly. We have to share it
with the ZL and STL who have been moved from Dresden, which is in the middle of
the zone and has a train connection to every other city, to Freiberg. Since
President Fingerle wants to put a focus on the temple and the temple is in
Freiberg. Freiberg has no train connections, except to Dresden. And since the
sisters are still STLs, they have to get to Berlin for exchanges. That is a
four hour train ride at best. They need a car. The mission doesn’t have any
extra cars. Who is the only companionship that has a car in the zone? Us.
So in the next two weeks, we have our car half of the days.
It doesn’t help that, as I already mentioned, there is no
direct train connection between here and Freiberg. The only connection takes
three hours.
It is going to be an adventure.
Remember, there is no price for the blessings of the temple.
Have a great week!
Elder Evan Perez
